13 SEPTEMBER 2018, Shah Alam – Seniman Paksi Rakyat (or known as PAKSI) recently has organized a meeting involving activist from the arts and cultural background (including government bodies and media) to gather inputs to be presented to the ministers. This session which held at Institute Darul Ehsan (IDE) has witness series of brainstorming from veterans in this lane and what are their views on the current development towards the arts and culture industry here in Malaysia.
The president of PAKSI, Mr. Dinsman which also the chairman of this event expressed his concern on the lack of attention towards the growth of the Malaysian arts and cultural movement by the government in which he said “I hope that the government could see eye to eye on the importance of encouraging growth of our arts and cultural activities and place them as one of the key indicator towards our country’s performances”. Mr. Nasser, which is the Head of Information of PAKSI added that the understanding on arts and cultural growth is not properly digested by our society and this has been reflected in the government’s failure to identify this item as a force to be reckon with.
PAKSI highlighted that the arts and culture activities is not only restricted to reading literature materials such as poetry and traditional dancing – in which those are only the preservation effort to embrace once culture. Hence, the real definition of arts and culture (from PAKSI perspectives) are much comprehensive to which covers the civilizational context that includes ethics, self-esteem, patriotism and many more.

Currently the arts and culture platform are fading and might suffer the risk of degrading. With the existence of various NGO’s and activist somehow able to dampen the damage, however with the current condition of support (which is not sufficient) might not able to sustain the pillar for long. PAKSI is now trying to seek various support from alternative channels – however still hoping that the new Malaysian government would able to provide a more concrete solution to help maintain our cultural heritage.
We here @Wanita4U.FM would like to express our support towards PAKSI movement by creating more arts and cultural based content in the future. We wish that this effort is continued as there are a lot of our Malaysian heritage that needed to be preserved and our hope that the new Malaysian government would consider this effort as worthy to be highlighted as one of the important element in their portfolio.
